Took
the boat out from Oatley and ventured to Capt Cook Bridge just
after sunrise. Anchored just east of the bridge and cast towards
the middle pylons. Within about 45 minutes landed an Occy on
mullet strip, other rods used fresh but dead squid strips to
no avail. Tried various water levels (free floating and with
sinker) with squid and mullet strips for about 2 hours before
trying elsewhere. Went all around the bay, so cold, so many
shallow spots in the bay. Finally ended back at the south end
of Capt cook bridge just out of the wind and berleyed up. Not
one single bite even on a mullet cube free floated (no skin)and
drifted in a spot that looked fishy. My god, one of the worst
days I've fished, I really have to work out how the barometer
affects fishing because there was not a fish in sight. Even
using my tried and tested bait fish rig just in case things
are slow and a two inch tiddler is better than no fish. Not
one bite! I'm not a Botany Bay expert and don't plan to be after
this expedition unless I am convinced otherwise, I'll stick
to Harbour fishing. Alteast the water is clearer and you get
more than one bite after 6 hours. Was it a fish free holiday
I was unaware of on Sunday???
As
you can see by our expressions the fishing mood was ANGRY
